Kelly Dobbs
Ingoa: Kelly Dobbs
Role: Committee of Management member
Tupuna: Keremeneta Kake
Skills/Experience/Background: Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 Maths, Science, English and the latter, Mechanics Electrical and Material Sciences (AUT) and I hold a level 5 certificate in Fabrication. (NZ Welding School). I'm a journeyman mechanic/engineer. Am married with two strapping young lads. I bring a variety of valuable problem solving and life skills to the tepu of the management team.
When I was a younger, more handsome man, I accompanied my father (Jon Dobbs), to several Rewarewa D AGM's. More so, after my Grandfathers passing, (Henry Dobbs), who was in his 90th year, in early 2000. I must say I didn't know too much to start with.
However since this time, our trust for which I am the chairman, had been sitting somewhat idle since my father's passing in 2015. After being elected to this role, I have been actively engaging with other whanau/whanaunga within our hapu/marae and with many other hapu on a number of topics.
During this journey of discovery, I've been involved with Hui A Hapu, the Waitangi treaty claims and claimants, the Ngati Hau Trust Board business and worked extensively with the NZ Maori Council. I must say, engaging and learning so much, in a relatively short period of time, has been a real eyeopener.
Back to the whenua. Our whanau have indicated a real desire to reoccupy this beautiful land, and nurture the special relationships within this amazing place.
I am very proud to be a part of this Kaupapa and really excited to represent all the shareholders as we forge ahead to achieve our goals.
Tihei Mauri Ora.
